Study on the supply and demand for the physician manpower in Korea

Abstract
|

|
This study tried to predict the demand for prospective medical care partly. It took the Korean life table and the physicians´ productivities into consideration. In addition, it made efficient use of some survey outputs of hospitals and patients available.
It was concluded from this study that the demand for physician manpower would exceed its supply to some extent from 2010 to 2020.
Therefore it could be suggested that the efficiency of medical manpower and organizations should be enhanced through the appropriate adjustment of the number the equity insurance of the physicians´ geographical distribution of physicains, and the improvement of health delivery system, etc.
Further, increasing medical demand should be covered properly by the activities of health promotion and disease prevention.
